The tennis season is underway. The Spring Youth Tennis Session has 40 kids working with Coach Charley all month long. Outdoor pickleball has arrived with two courts available for play. And June is filled with fun tennis and pickleball activities. Read the newsletter to find out everything that is going on. Join the CCTA at the WUNDERBAR on Wednesday September 12 for our annual meeting and dinner. Cocktails at 5:30, a short business meeting at 6:30 followed by a wonderful three course dinner and entertainment.

Cocktail hour will include a cash bar, hors d’oeuvres, and classic Celtic music by Frozen Britches featuring CCTA member Tom Van Cleve and Erik Hahn.

In the business meeting, President Hennessy will highlight the growth and success of our tennis association in 2018 and discuss some of the important capital expenditure challenges we face moving forward.

Dinner will feature a three course plated meal with a choice of poached lake trout or lemon glazed chicken, served with rice pilaf and vegetable du jour. Salad and dessert tray is included. $25 per person including tax and gratuity.

Following dinner there will be live music and a campfire with s’mores provided by the Wunderbar.

Fall tennis classes with Charley are now open for registration. Weekly classes throughout September for kids ages 4-18. Keep building building skills learned in earlier sessions. With participants experiencing the full spectrum of Grand Marais weather, the 2018 Fisherman’s Picnic Tennis Tournament was successfully conducted August 3-5. Nearly 50 participants from several states and Canada made for a very competitive field and some great tennis. Tournament Directors Mark Summers and John Muus did a masterful job in scheduling around changing weather conditions ensuring all divisions were successfully concluded by Sunday afternoon. Thanks to all the participants and spectators for coming out and we look forward to seeing you next year! Final results follow:

CCTA Announces June Junior Tennis Clinic

Grand Marais, Minn. – March 20, 2018 – The Cook County Tennis Association (CCTA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Charles Darley as director of tennis instruction for the 2018 season. Darley will lead a comprehensive tennis teaching and training program for all levels of youth and adults at the Grand Marais tennis courts from April through September.
