What is this?
Three day clinic focusing on skills and strategy to advance the level of play of junior players ages 9-18. Age exception with prior approval of Charley Darley.
The camp’s goal is
to build knowledge
of and skill at
all aspects of a tennis game
.
Tennis is a complex game to learn and play
expertly. It comprises many interacting elements including precise and explosive movement techniques; understanding of strategic patterns like shot selection and court positioning;and cognitive/perceptual skills like focusing on, “reading,” and influencing an opponent’s intentions and decisions. Simultaneous with these components is the overarching emotional requirement of maintaining a calm, relaxed, optimistic but intensely focused presence while learning, practicing, and competing. Like all our classes, the camp will dig “deeply” into the multi-layered structure of tennis so our students come away with an in-depth understanding of the game and a greater mastery of the learning (listening, inquiring, analytical), emotional, and athletic skills required to learn and expertly play tennis and all other sports.
Morning and afternoon sessions will focus on drills, live ball play and games. Morning session from 9-12, lunch 12-1 and afternoon session 1-3. Instruction will be provided by CCTA Director of Tennis Instruction, Charley Darley. Charley will also be assisted by highly qualified assistants to be named shortly.
